Perhaps one of my favourite elements of video games is their storytelling potential. If perfected, it has far greater potency than cinema, and to a lesser extent novels, in its capacity as a medium to tell great stories. I'm personally someone who focuses on playing games with more of a focus on telling a story than how good the gameplay is, and I've definitely played a wide variety of games that've hit the same notes as some of the literary world's best releases.
But while everyone generally knows which games have a reputation for telling a fantastic tale, I'm interested in hearing some of the personal impacts felt by others in a way that uniquely applies to them.
What games were the most impactful for you? Did any change your views, your feelings, open you up to a new way of thinking? And most importantly, why?
