People talk about 'games for impact' - but which games have had the most profound personal impact on you?

Perhaps one of my favourite elements of video games is their storytelling potential. If perfected, it has far greater potency than cinema, and to a lesser extent novels, in its capacity as a medium to tell great stories. I'm personally someone who focuses on playing games with more of a focus on telling a story than how good the gameplay is, and I've definitely played a wide variety of games that've hit the same notes as some of the literary world's best releases. But while everyone generally knows which games have a reputation for telling a fantastic tale, I'm interested in hearing some of the personal impacts felt by others in a way that uniquely applies to them. What games were the most impactful for you? Did any change your views, your feelings, open you up to a new way of thinking? And most importantly, why?
